My artistic approach emphasizes traditional craftsmanship, natural colors, and a celebration of the earth. I want the public to instinctively recognize that there is a human being behind each of my creations, whether they are functional or sculptural. I want my pieces to convey their own story—the soil from which they came, the nature that surrounded them, and the artist who shaped them.
Leaving the clay exposed is a recurring feature in my work. I choose not to glaze certain parts of my pieces for a specific reason: to highlight the clay’s nuances and imperfections by creating a contrast between the glaze and the unglazed areas. This invites the public to appreciate not only the object’s appearance but also the sensation of holding it in their hands.
By using natural colors, I draw inspiration from the landscapes around me, incorporating shades that evoke the earth, the sky, and vegetation, especially in the fall. I hope that those who interact with my pieces will appreciate the simplicity and beauty of colors that remain calm yet vibrant. I aim to create a way for the public to connect with the earth and the nature that surrounds them. Each piece then becomes an invitation to slow down, observe, and discover more deeply what we hold in our hands.
I strive to leave imperfections in each of my pieces. As a result, I choose to distance myself as much as possible from the mass production of identical, impersonal, flawless objects. I want my work to reflect my skill as a craftsman, while remaining human and imperfect.
