EMPTY BOWLS
The Empty Bowls project began in Michigan in 1990. It is a grassroots movement organized by artists and artisans in cities around the world to combat hunger and raise awareness about sharing.
In Val-David, ceramicist Robin Hutchinson has been the driving force behind this collective initiative for many years. Ceramicists volunteer their time to create bowls from clay donated by The Pottery House.
Over the course of a weekend, visitors to 1001 Pots are invited to decorate the bowls, which are then glazed and sold in September at the Val-David Public Market. The proceeds are donated to the Val-David Food Bank.
This year, the decoration of the Bowls of Sharing will take place on Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9!
