My artistic practice is driven by a quest for visual poetry and the creation of a personal visual vocabulary. My ceramic sculptures transform the unremarkable elements of daily life—shadows, folded papers, everyday objects—into tangible forms that act as props for narratives oscillating between the conceptual and the personal.
My work explores the intersections of time, memory, and the invisible, capturing these themes in sculptural narratives through the repetition of form and texture.
In this series, I delve into the dualities of presence and absence by crafting positive and negative spaces. The carved voids and cutouts are just as integral as the solid forms, creating dynamic interactions between light, shadow, and the surfaces of the clay.
I draw inspiration from the traditional still life, deconstructing and rebuilding it into something uniquely my own. Through the medium of ceramics, I explore problem-solving in composition, color, line, light, and space, integrating texture and glaze to amplify the narrative. The shapes of shadows cast by everyday objects often inspire my forms, revealing stories hidden in the mundane.
This process embraces the ordinary and the overlooked, demonstrating how even the most mundane or unattractive aspects of life can spark profound creativity. For me, the act of observing, contemplating, and shaping during the creation process is as significant as the finished piece itself.
