I work on the wheel and/or by hand-building. I usually fire my pieces in an electric kiln or a wood-fired kiln. My practice consists mainly of functional ceramics, but I also create sculptural and decorative pieces.
The glazing of my functional pieces is largely inspired by landscapes, textures, or architectural structures that I encounter in my daily life. Nature also plays a major role in the creation of my pieces, especially those fired in a wood-fired kiln.
My “Merterre” collection consists of delicate tableware, cups, and trays whose glazes have been carefully poured, allowing for controlled randomness that creates landscapes of beaches, valleys, or skies through the application of varying thicknesses of glaze.
For my wood-fired creations, I explore various colors and methods while participating in workshops with the “Goregama” group, of which I am a member, which allows me to develop a rustic style.
Recently, I have begun exploring the Kintsugi technique and the philosophy often associated with it. This involves restoring broken ceramic pieces in such a way that the cracks remain visible, highlighting imperfections rather than hiding them.
