Daphné Saint-Denis

Driven by a strong interest in exploring wild clay and local minerals, I like to create pieces that give pride of place to the material. Reflection on the origin and manufacture of our everyday objects, and our detachment from consumer goods, is at the heart of my approach. With a desire to reconnect with the origin of things and each stage of manufacture, this urge emerged during my years working in the mining industry, with the feeling of participating in a tiny part of a hidden production stage upstream from our consumer objects.

Creating functional ceramic pieces for everyday use while exploring the possibilities of materials is at the heart of my creative process. I aim to create pieces that blend the softness of form with the raw texture of clay. I am deeply inspired by elements of the landscape, particularly minerals and forests.

The Centre de céramique Bonsecours (CCB) is proud to present the collections of its 2025 graduates of the DEC Techniques métiers d'art - Céramique specialization.

In addition to offering the college program in collaboration with Cégep du Vieux Montréal, the CCB's mission is to promote research and creation in contemporary ceramics. Its gallery offers a diversified annual program of exhibitions, lectures and special events.

A look at what you will discover.
