Dômo Ceramic

In a very personal and poetic approach, I create works at the intersection of nostalgia and sharing: I like to make a connection between memories of the past and the ever-changing present. Above all, I want to create a connection between viewers and my pieces, so that they can feel an emotion of their own.

The themes I focus on are nostalgia, the quest for identity, belonging to a territory, commemoration and mourning.

Elements that are close to my heart and that I'd like to explore further are the affiliation with objects that are markers of eras or territories; and the poetry and vulnerability that are infused into these objects.

I've reappropriated these themes since moving to Quebec, and the uprooting I've experienced since leaving France.

My work inks ceramics as a silent witness to key, sensitive and moving moments. I use ceramics to freeze moments in an inalienable way. My pieces invite further reflection on self-affirmation, both as a French citizen in Quebec and as a ceramic artist.

In my pieces, I exploit soft shapes, light colors and refined surface treatments. I like to highlight small objects by accumulation, taking the time to make them one by one with the same meticulousness and patience for each object. I also like to make reference to obsolete or discarded objects to bring them back to life in ceramics.

La Maison des métiers d'art de Québec is a cultural organization dedicated to contemporary craft practices. Located in the heart of Quebec City, it boasts 25 ceramic, textile and sculpture studios spread over seven floors. Its mandates include training, research and creation, as well as the development and promotion of fine crafts. In partnership with Cégep Limoilou, it offers technical courses for the Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) - Techniques de métiers d'art - option céramique, construction textile et sculpture, and enables professional artists to enrich their practices through intensive training or research residencies.
