I am a non-binary artist based in Tio’tià:ke/Montreal. After earning my degree in film production at Concordia University, I began a bachelor’s degree in ceramics at the same institution in 2021, completing only one semester due to financial constraints. I continued my education through self-study, aided over the years by several mentors, including my studio colleague Cilia Sawadogo, my friend Catherine, who creates under the name Minipott, and Marina Lopez, who is known, among other things, for her nerikomi creations. Hand-building is my preferred method of production, allowing me to create complex pieces with asymmetrical forms.

I enjoy creating works that are both alluring and unsettling, practical and awkward. This dissonance lies at the heart of my creative practice; I am perpetually seeking a balance between the extremes of everyday life. The wild inspires me greatly, particularly the defense mechanisms of plants and animals, but also the flowers and the shifting colors of the seasons. Thorns, which are a prominent feature in my work, serve as a reminder of this self-protection mechanism found in plants and vulnerable creatures. These sharp protrusions are fragile yet dangerous, inviting the viewer to take the time to handle them with care. I use a mix of bright colors as well as darker shades like black, staying true to my obsession with contrasts.

A look at what you will discover.
