POLI Céramique

POLI. Céramique is a young Montreal-based company that came into being on a whim. I've always been a creative person who likes to work with my hands and create something concrete. It was out of curiosity that I laid my hands on clay for the first time in 2019. Since then, I've been totally absorbed by the material and let it inspire me.

Today, I draw much of my inspiration from the natural world around me and its diversity. In particular, I take my inspiration from autumn flowers and leaves, as they prepare for the unforgiving Quebec winter. Every year, I spend several days in Hochelaga's Steinberg Woods, one of Montreal's last untouched urban woodlands. There, I pick flowers and dry branches to take home, just as I did when I was growing up in the Laurentians.

In the same way, I believe that a ceramic piece has the capacity to bring us back home, wherever we are. That's the intention behind my creations: you can feel at home at the touch of a cup. The important thing is to remember that it's not just a cup, a plate or a simple bowl, but an experience.
