MacLean, Laura

My creative process is centered on the body and its memory. The hands express, execute and create with as little mental involvement as possible. In this language, it's possible to see references to nature. The shapes are organic and have relief.

My training as an occupational therapist left me with a desire to develop objects that tend towards a certain ergonomics. I want them to be as pleasing to the eye as they are to the hand. Touch is a sense I'm very interested in. That's why my designs tend towards texture, or the absence of it (if that's even possible).
