I am interested in the inherent language of shape. The beauty of simple forms, impacted by the history of experience. In my work I aim to amplify the voice of the material and the process. The depth of surfaces achieved through long atmospheric firings draws me in, as it tells the story of many hours of extreme conditions. Functionality is important to me, as it re-entwines beauty into our everyday and uplifts mundanity. Everything needs holding; coffee in a mug, soup in a bowl, water in a river, soul in our body. I keep this in mind while I endeavour to create objects worth using.
