Marie-Christine Lété

Born in 1959 in Mulhouse (France), I have lived in Montreal since 1985. My first studio dates back to 1988 when I decided to take up ceramics as a profession after graduating from the Centre de Céramique Bonsecours in Montreal. My first passion is sculpture, mainly women's torsos modeled with colombins.

I produce small series of pieces made on the wheel and fired in "raku". Mainly decorative but also useful for a meal, they are not dishwasher or microwave safe. Raku firing, both for my sculptures and for my touring production, allows me to play with fire and to participate fully in the transformation of the material. The technique, although controlled, gives a result with the most exciting random effects.

A look at what you will discover.
