Auger, Chantal

Sometimes I create, sometimes I interpret. And always I learn. I learn.

I work in stoneware and porcelain. I mainly turn utilitarian pottery related to the preparation, cooking and serving of food. I take particular care to produce quality objects that can be appreciated in their daily use. My glazes are made from clay respectfully harvested from the womb of Mother Earth. For my Terroir collection, I use pure clay in a deep brown, with salts to give it a rustic flavor, or mixed with wood ashes for the depth of a sunny ochre. Fire at high temperature reveals all of its immense alchemical power.

These porcelain tableware pieces are hand turned and decorated in my workshop in Ste-Hélène-de-Chester, Qc. The glaze that covers them is composed, in whole or in part, of common clay picked from a stream. The high temperature firing makes them strong, durable and safe, designed for everyday use in preparing, cooking and serving meals. They are oven and dishwasher safe. Avoid thermal shock.

My collections TERROIR, ZEN, COLLINE, SILLON are on sale at my workshop.

A look at what you will discover.
