Based in Montreal, Laura Huchet has developed a ceramic practice that explores the dialogue between clay, fire, and time. Her work is rooted in gas and wood-firing techniques, where surfaces are shaped through intense and transformative processes. Fire becomes an active partner in this process, revealing unpredictable textures and nuances. The pieces often create a tension between the fragility of bare clay and the depth of glazes such as shino or celadon, revealing sensitive and unstable states of matter.

Trained in anthropology, she approaches ceramics as a field of research, informed by observation, dialogue, and a focus on material culture. Rooted in a feminist and anti-capitalist perspective, her practice seeks to give voice to discreet realities, everyday gestures, and modest objects, viewed as vessels of memory and emotion. She thus develops an aesthetic of the intimate, attentive to silent existences and the poetry of the ordinary.

A 2022 graduate of Cégep Limoilou, Laura Huchet has participated in several residencies and exhibitions in Canada and France. Alongside her ceramic work, she continues her visual research through photography and analog video, extending her exploration of time, traces, and materiality.
