Anne Sophie La Haise is a Quebec-based ceramic artist living in Montreal. She focuses on creating playful utilitarian and sculptural pieces, with a particular interest in their sensory qualities. La Haise’s collections are all hand-formed, primarily using the draping technique, and then shaped while the clay is still wet and malleable. She is interested in the history of ceramics as well as the domestic and folk traditions of French-speaking Canada, seeking to build bridges between cultural heritage and contemporary creation. Her current research focuses on antique French-Canadian objects and explores the connections between the intimate, personal memory, and collective memory.
