My work explores the links between the familiarity of the ceramic object and the familiarity of the monster figure.
By creating pieces that draw on the register of the animal, the human and the monstrous, I aim to bring out an impression of the living - whether visible or not.
Thanks to my technical training and the fact that most of my pieces are made by turning (throwing/coil-building, throwing then deforming), I also wish to question and play with the utilitarian codes that run through the ceramic medium. Hybridity is therefore also reflected in the function - or otherwise - of my pieces.
My sculptures are allegories of resilience and symbols of emotional support. Generally speaking, my research focuses on creating a universe that oscillates between attraction and repulsion, between gentleness and defensiveness.
