Gatinho Ceramica

Trevor Smith, the creator behind Gatinho Ceramica, is a ceramist currently living and working in Montreal. After following an atypical path that included music, pastry and archives, he found in ceramics a way to create, explore and think with his hands.His work is a contemporary exploration of the 19th-century English mocha ware tradition and the white-and-blue aesthetic. Porcelain, with its immaculate whiteness, is ideal for highlighting the blue accents of mocha tea decorations, but can also be colored.

Together, the pieces complement each other perfectly, and the randomness of the decoration offers subtle variations in color and shape. Beyond the aesthetic aspect, he wants his creations to evoke a sense of calm and bring a touch of poetry to everyday life. He wants his pieces to be an invitation to contemplation and relaxation. Using simple shapes and organic patterns, he seeks to create a soothing visual rhythm.
